there’s so much to celebrate this weekend! Q was born on memorial day nearly 4 years ago! we’ll be celebrating the big day on his actual birthday next saturday, but something about the holiday itself always makes me think of that crazy, wonderful day when we met our little guy for the first time!
today is also the one year anniversary of our first home! i can hardly believe we’ve been living in palm springs for a whole year…seems like just yesterday we were daydreaming about this backyard!
i hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend full of family, friends and celebration!

here’s a sunny little cocktail to kick off the first official weekend of summer! this frozen lemonade is so light and refreshing (and it keeps nicely in the freezer) perfect for impromptu guests and all those lazy, hazy, crazy days ahead. we’ll be sipping on these poolside with a few L.A. friends this weekend. cheers!
12 oz frozen lemonade
12 oz vodka
24 oz cold water
zest from 1 lemon
lemon slices to garnish, if desired
combine lemonade concentrate, vodka, water and lemon zest. pour into a shallow, freezer safe pan and freeze mixture for at least 8 hours or overnight, stirring once halfway through freezing.
fluff ice crystals with a fork and spoon into glasses for serving. top with lemon slices.
happy summer sipping!
how awesome are these?

today we decided to take a break from house-related things and drive out to joshua tree! the park is incredible. apparently the joshua trees only bloom once every 100 years and, while they were almost on their way out, we did get to catch a few fleeting blossoms! we did a little hike, took in some amazing vistas and then grabbed a quick bite at this great little roadside cafe. i cannot wait to head back for an overnight trip or two when the weather cools.
what a gorgeous day.
welcome to pretty in palm springs! come join me as i take a peek at all things new, delicious and lovely in PS. i’ll be posting about everyday things that inspire beautiful living. food, friends, design, family, and all the small bits in-between.
so sit back, relax and, most importantly, enjoy! x
